Located right on the beach side of Rio de Janeiro, the Dois Irmãos Hill (Two Brothers) is known for having one of the most magnificent views of the city. From the top of hill called “big brother”, it is possible to see various famous sites, such as Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, Leblon, Copacabana, and Arpoador. The 1.5 km hiking trail that leads to the summit begins at the Vidigal Favela, which lies on the hill’s lower part. The favela, named after one of the city’s most influential men in the 19th century, continues to expand after 200 years from its creation. Due to the warm reception of the community and the increase in security since the implantation of the Pacifying Police Unit (UPP) in 2012, the Vidigal has become one of the main attractions of Rio de Janeiro, visited by both locals and tourists.

OUR TOUR

A short 1-hour hike take us to the summit of Dois Irmãos, where we will relax, take pictures and enjoy the incredible view. On our way down, we will make strategic stops in several places of the Vidigal Favela, getting to know the life and history of this community. For those who want a bit more adventure, you can ride up to the hiking trail entrance by motorcycles known as “moto taxis“, a mark of Rio’s communities.
